In 2021, China's total water consumption reached 592.1 billion cubic meters, an increase of 10.81 billion cubic meters compared to 2020, a year-on-year increase of 1.86%. Among them, the total amount of agricultural water used in China in 2020 was 361.24 billion cubic meters, a decrease of 6.99 billion cubic meters compared to 2019.

In the past 30 years, the average annual water consumption for agricultural irrigation in China has been basically maintained at about 340 billion cubic meters, accounting for about 56% of the total water consumption in society. The irrigated area accounts for about 50% of the national cultivated area, producing 75% of the national total grain and more than 90% of cash crop.

Chen Mingzhong, Director of the Rural Water Resources and Hydropower Department of the Ministry of Water Resources, stated that with the expansion of irrigation area, improvement of irrigation guarantee rate, and steady increase in total grain production, the total amount of agricultural water use in China has remained stable, and water-saving irrigation plays an indispensable role.

The integration of water and fertilizer is known as one of the most water-saving and fertilizer saving technologies in agricultural production to date, and it is also the most convenient, reasonable, and cost-effective choice for park management.

It is a water-saving agricultural technology that utilizes a pipeline irrigation system to dissolve fertilizers in water and simultaneously irrigate and fertilize crops to meet their water and nutrient needs in a timely and appropriate manner, achieving synchronous management and efficient utilization of water and fertilizer. Compared to uncontrolled flood irrigation, the integration of water and fertilizer is achieved through systematic and reasonable control, rational regulation of water resource usage, and on-demand irrigation to meet the water needs of crops.

The promotion and application of integrated water and fertilizer not only effectively solves the problem of waste in agricultural irrigation, but also plays a key role in transforming "water-saving irrigation" from a slogan to action. For example, the integrated water and fertilizer project undertaken by Han Tang Water Fertilizer in the following figure has effectively increased local fertilizer and water usage, reduced costs, and improved quality and efficiency.

The lifeblood of farmland lies in water, and water-saving irrigation and high standard farmland construction work together to ensure water conservation, quality improvement, efficiency enhancement, and safety.
